Meet Dr. Robert Lugo
Dr. Robert Lugo is an American board-certified physiatrist, specializing in treating musculoskeletal pain disorders of the spine and joints. Utilizing minimally invasive interventional procedures, Dr. Lugo works with his patients to identify and treat their root cause of pain. He earned his master’s degree in biomedical sciences at Midwestern University, in Downers Grove, IL, where he conducted original research in ischemic stroke. Dr. Lugo completed his internship at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, CA, his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, and his fellowship in Interventional Pain Medicine at Manhattan Restorative Health Sciences in New York, NY.
Born and raised in southern California, Dr. Lugo earned an NCAA division-one track and field scholarship to Long Beach State University, where he excelled at the discus and hammer throws. His passion for learning and understanding the neuromusculoskeletal systems blossomed while attending medical school at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Vallejo, CA. During Dr. Lugo’s residency, he volunteered as a sports medicine physician where he treated athletes from professional boxing, mixed-martial arts, and college football. He enjoys devoting time to his wife and family, weightlifting, music, art, and barbecuing.
